Where I’m from

I am from tall grey buildings
Smoke, dust, and noise in the streets

I am from long school days
And nights without sleep

I am from running barefoot on the beach
And feeling the sand tickle my feet

I am from long evenings by the fire
Listening to my mothers violin

I am front the smell of strong perfume
from the sound of high heels walking all around me

I am from the cottage by the lake
And the singing of the birds

I am from the coldness of the winter snow
And from the heat of the chimneys’ fire

I am from sitting on my windowsill
And silently watching the sky

I am from all those cheers and all that laughter
I am from all the good moments spent with the people I love.
I am from the country I love.
